5 months (almost 6)

Elizabeth had her 5 month check up today - actually she is almost 6 months, but whatever. =) She weighs 14 lbs 2 ounces (1 pound more than she did at her 4 month check up) and she is 25 3/4 inches long (1 inch longer than she was at her 4 month check up). She had to get 2 shots and have her finger pricked and she didn't even cry. What a little trooper!

babywearing

I am becoming totally addicted to babywearing. I spend every moment at work (that I'm not working) looking on the FSOT (for sale or trade) babywearing board. There are so many beautiful wraps and carriers out there. I could easily spend several hundred dollars if I had the money. I had a Moby Wrap, but wasn't fond of it so I gave it to a girl on the board (because I'm nice like that.. lol) and bought a Maya Wrap Ring Sling. I do like it a lot, but now I want another wrap and I want a Beco Butterfly II carrier also. Check out some babywearing images (these are Google images - neither myself nor anyone I know is pictured)..

Didymos Wrap:

Maya Wrap Ring Sling: (the sling I currently have)

Storchenwiege Lemony Inka (love this one!)

There are so many more, but it's time for lunch =)

5 months old

Elizabeth is 5 months old today. Wow! It's incredible how fast they grow up. She's already trying to get her knees up under her so I imagine she will be crawling before we know it. I will post some new pictures here as soon as I have the chance. For now.. check out this beautiful drawing that a brilliant friend did for me. It is from the day of Elizabeth's baptism - May 3rd 2009

4 months

Elizabeth had her 4 month check up on Thursday. She weighs 13 lbs 2 ounces and is 24 3/4 inches long. (at 3 months she was 11 lbs 13 ounces and 24 1/4 inches). She had to get two shots. Poor thing. I hate when they have to get shots. I made Jeremy stand there and talk to her so she wouldn't see my face while she was being hurt. lol. She has to go at 5 and 6 months and then she'll get 6 whole months off from getting those nasty pokes in the leg.

3 month check up

Elizabeth had her 3 month check up yesterday and all is well with her. She weighs 11 lbs 13 ounces and is 24 1/4 inches long. She's a bit smaller than her big sister was at this age. I just looked up her stats in my archives and at 3 months Gabby was 14 lbs 6 ounces and 24 3/4 inches long. I guess there's a big difference between a formula fed baby (Gabby) and a breast fed baby (Elizabeth). I think Elizabeth is just more petite than her sister anyway.

three months

My baby girl, Elizabeth, is 3 months old today! She was at the doctor this past Monday and weighed 11 lbs 8 ounces. No length because it wasn't a check up. She was there because I have been sick for about 3 weeks now and as of today I am on my 2nd antibiotic so we wanted to make sure her nasal congestion wasn't anything more than a slight cold. Anyway.. she is good and we will have her 3 month check up next Thursday when she will have to endure 2 more shots. Poor little thing.

Pictures coming soon (Yes, I got my camera back from repair! Woo hoo!) .....

2 month check up

Elizabeth had her 2 month check up today. We decided to break up her shots so she got 2 shots (1 in each leg) and one oral vaccination. I just looked up Gabby's 2 month visit and we let them give her all 4 shots at one time. What were we thinking? So Elizabeth goes back in 3 weeks for the other two shots.

Here are her stats at 10 weeks:

10 lbs 12 ounces, 22 1/4 inches long, head is 38.5

And her previous stats:

04/16/09 (6 weeks) 8 lbs 5 ounces

04/09/09 (5 weeks) 7 lbs 10 ounces, 21.5 inches long, head is 36 cm's

03/19/09 (2 weeks old) 7 lbs 3 ounces, 20 1/4 inches long, head is 35.5 cm's

03/09/09 (4 days old) 7 lbs 2 ounces, 19.5 inches long and her head was 33.5 cm's

03/05/09 (at birth) 7 lbs 9 ounces, 19.5 inches long

My husband is awesome! Did you notice the post he wrote this morning? I love him and my kids. It's been a wonderful Mother's day.

Since my girls are napping I thought I would take this time to post some recent pictures. Most of them are from Elizabeth's baptism last Sunday. The last two are just pictures that I took at home. She is 2 months old now. Look at that smile!

the big day

Elizabeth's baptism was perfect. It was a glorious day. She didn't cry, but her eyes did pop wide open when she felt the water on her head. My parents threw a party at their house after church and we all had a fabulous time - good food, good people, good times. I have a lot of photos from the big day, but have been too busy and too tired to even upload them let alone resize them and post them.

a little worried

Today is Elizabeth's baptism and I got a call from my mom last night saying that my sister and brother-in-law (the God parents) may not be able to make the trip this morning. Apparently my nephew started throwing up last night. Haven't heard anything since so I called my priest this morning to find out what our options are. I had to leave him a message and I am hoping he calls back before 8:00 mass. I have no idea what to do. Can we have someone stand in for them? Do we have to reschedule? Rescheduling would not make me happy because for one, and most importantly.. I hated waiting this long to have her baptized in the first place, but had to schedule according to when everyone could make it. And two.. my parents already ordered food and the cake for the party after. Of course, I hope that my nephew is OK, but this just sucks. I have been up ever since Elizabeth woke to eat at 5am. She went back to sleep at 6am, but I haven't been able to stop worrying.

much better

Last night was much better. Elizabeth went to bed a little after midnight (in her bed) and didn't wake to eat until 4:30 this morning. I pulled her in bed with me to nurse her and we fell asleep and didn't wake again until 7. I feel so much better today. Another great thing... it's almost the end of the week and we have a beautiful weekend ahead of us. It's supposed to be 80 degrees this weekend. Wahoo!

Elizabeth's stats

I forgot to update Elizabeth's stats.

03/05/09 (at birth) 7 lbs 9 ounces, 19.5 inches long

03/09/09 (4 days old) 7 lbs 2 ounces, 19.5 inches long and her head was 33.5 cm's

03/19/09 (2 weeks old) 7 lbs 3 ounces, 20 1/4 inches long, head is 35.5 cm's

04/09/09 (5 weeks) 7 lbs 10 ounces, 21.5 inches long, head is 36 cm's

04/16/09 (6 weeks) 8 lbs 5 ounces - only went in for a weight check because she was gaining slowly, but she is catching up now. 11 ounces in one week!

I would post a current picture, but my camera decided to stop working so it has to be sent back to the manufacturer to be replaced. I hate not having a camera! I'm going to have to pull out my older camera and get some actual batteries to put in it until I get mine back.

first day back

Today was my first day back to work. It wasn't easy leaving my little peanut. I started crying as I nursed her this morning before I had to leave. I didn't want to cry, but I just couldn't stop the tears. Gabby is so sweet. She said, "mommy.. why are you crying? Don't cry." Daddy told her I was going to miss them. She said, "It's OK, mama.. don't cry." Of course that made me cry even more.

It hasn't been a bad first day back. I haven't had to do any real work. They gave me the day to get caught up. I had 700 emails to sort through and other things to take care of to get back up to speed so it's been a fairly relaxing day. I got to go home at lunch and nurse the baby so that was good. I didn't want to put her down to leave again, but it was easier than this morning. I didn't cry on my way back to work as I did on my way to work this morning. I'm sure it will get easier as time goes by. And now I only have 45 minutes left until I head home. In an hour I will be a happy woman once again - until tomorrow morning. =)

too soon

I can't believe I have to go back to work on Monday. I can't even describe how depressing it is to give birth to a baby, bond with the baby and then have to leave the baby all day while you go to work only six weeks later. It's a feeling only a mother could understand. It sucks that I have to spend my last two days feeling anxious about it too.

six weeks

Elizabeth is six weeks old today. Yep, that means I have to go back to work on Monday. Blah. I'm so not looking forward to it. I don't want to leave my baby all day. She went to the doctor's today just for a weight check because last week she only weighed 7 lbs 10 ounces (only an ounce more than her birth weight at 5 weeks old), but she is doing well. She weighed in at 8 lbs 5 ounces today at six weeks old so she gained 11 ounces since last week.

2 week check up

Elizabeth had her 2 week check up today. I can't believe she is 2 weeks old already!

Here were her stats at 4 days old:

7 lbs 2 ounces, 19.5 inches long and her head was 33.5 cm's

Here are her stats as of today:

7 lbs 3 ounces, 20 1/4 inches long and her head is 35.5 cm's

She's growing, but still a tiny little thing. I was worried about her weight because the doctor said she had 2 weeks to get back to her birth weight which was 7 lbs 9 ounces, but the doctor said her weight is fine. She said that as long as she is on her way back up that all is well. She said for all we know she could have lost a few more ounces after the first appointment.

Here she is at 2 weeks old:

I have lost 23 pounds as of 10 days PP. I only have 10 pounds to lose in order to reach my pre-pregnancy weight! Woo hoo! And I am wearing my regular jeans today too. Although I was still wearing those at 8 months pregnant so it's not that huge of a deal, I guess. But it feels good nonetheless.

sleep does a body good

Our nights with Elizabeth have been very challenging. She would ONLY sleep on my chest after nursing; not in her bed, not in bed next to me, not in her bouncy - although she will sleep in her bouncy chair during the day. Needless to say I wasn't getting very sound sleep with her lying across my chest. Well, last night I decided to try swaddling her and it worked! I had stopped swaddling her after the first couple of days just because it was easier to nurse her and probably because Gabby hated to be swaddled and I was going by that. After I wrapped her all up tight she slept next to me in bed for hours. I didn't even get up until 10:30 this morning. Sleep is such a wonderful thing.

five days

Elizabeth is five days old and is doing so well. She is breast feeding like a champ although I worry a lot since this is the first time I've been successful at breast feeding. I am taking Fenugreek which is supposed to help my milk production and trying to stay hydrated because that is supposed to help also. My mom is at the store getting me the Medela Pump In Style breast pump at this very moment so that when I go back to work I will be able to keep up my milk supply and continue to breast feed.

I have been taking some pictures here and there so I will get those posted as soon as I have more time and energy.

Oh, and I almost forgot... we went to the pediatrician yesterday and everything is great. One thing... when they measured her in the hospital after she was born they said she was 20 3/4 inches long. She's not. They measured her twice at the pedi office and she is only 19.5 inches long. What a big difference! She is the tiniest thing though and so cute. I am so in love. I've also noticed that even though she does look like Gabby did at birth, she has my facial features and Gabby has her dad's.

Elizabeth Katherine is here

She arrived at 10:21 pm on Thursday, March 5th after a pretty short labor. She is 7 pounds 9 ounces and 19.5 inches long. She came out the same way as her brother, Evan - sunny side up and face first which is why it took me an hour to push her out. But she is beautiful and perfect and we are home now. I will post some pictures when I am not so tired.

I just called and they said they were thinking that they would have to cancel me for the day because they don't have any spots but she talked to my doctor and was told they could bring me in at any point today so call back at 11am and they will have a better idea of what's going on. this is some bull shit

So my induction is scheduled for this morning at 7am. I got a sheet of instructions that says to call the hospital at 5am to make sure they will have a bed available for my scheduled time. Of course I had a hard time sleeping last night and barely managed to get a few hours of sleep and once the alarm went off at 4:30am I was WIDE awake. I call at 4:57 and they said no.. they won't be ready and to call back at 7am. WTF? I can't play this game all day. They better tell me I can come in when I call back because if she says call back in another 2 hours I am going to flip out! Apparently everyone is having their baby except me - even on my induction date! This is some bull shit.

We've been working hard since last night to get all last minute things done before we go to the hospital tomorrow. All of Elizabeth's things are in their place and ready for use. three a.m.

Apparently three hours of sleep is enough. I woke at a little after three this morning because I had to pee (at least that is why I am assuming I woke up). Because it is so painful to move once I've been lying in one position for too long and it took me so long to get out of bed and to the bathroom, I am wide awake now. Oh, the joys of pregnancy! I'm so glad it's almost over.. FOR GOOD. We are so done having kids that I think we'll both get "fixed" just to be on the safe side.

It's 3:41 AM and I've already sucked down a cup of coffee. I guess I'm up for a while.

On a side note: I am so curious to know what this baby will look like. I know it's almost over and I will find out very soon, but it's really driving me quite batty. Will she look like Gabrielle? or will she have a look all her own? I can't wait to find out!

induction

I went to see my doctor this morning and there is still no change since Thursday. He scheduled my induction for Thursday morning at 7 am. It's the same day I was induced with my oldest son, Jamie. I guess they will be sharing a birthday unless my labor is forever long. What is it about that date and stubborn kids that don't want to come out? heh. The doctor said I could still go into labor on my own before then, but I really doubt it. So, hopefully I will have this baby girl some time on Thursday! and I'll be posting a picture or two over the weekend.

getting difficult

It's getting very difficult to stay up beat as the days pass. I am bored and I just want something to start happening! Every time I move I am hoping my water breaks and every contraction I feel I pray for it to be the beginning... but still nothing. I have a doctor's appointment in the morning, but that seems so far away. Each day feels longer than the one before. And it's FREEZING outside today so I don't even want to leave the house to find something to occupy my time. This sucks.

trying to stay positive

I'm still pregnant. I have a theory though. My original due date was March 6th based on my last menstrual period and my cycles are VERY regular, but they changed my due date to Feb 27th based on two of my early ultrasounds. I really feel that they did jump the gun and that my due date really should have remained March 6th. So, here is my plan... when I go to the doctor's on Tuesday morning I will have him strip my membranes again and will not schedule an induction before Friday the 6th. I would like the baby to come on her own and with my last two kids being 2 and 3 days early, I think that if he strips my membranes again on Tuesday that I will go into labor before I have to be induced. I am really trying to stay positive and get it out of my head that I am over due.

due date

Today is the baby's due date and still no baby. I'm not going to get down about it today though (at least I'm going to try not to). I'm in a good mood this morning - unlike yesterday when I had a break down after the doctor told me there had been no change since the previous week, stripped my membranes again and told me to make an appointment for Tuesday morning to discuss options at that point - and I'm going to ride it out as long as I can. We are picking up a new white dresser for the girls room this afternoon. I can't wait to get it and replace the older oak colored one that's in there now.

can't believe this

I am STILL pregnant. I thought for sure last night was it. I was having contractions about 7 minutes apart for several hours, but then they just got further apart and then disappeared altogether. I have my 40 week appointment in 2.5 hours. I can't believe I am going to my 40 week appointment! I didn't think I would make it to this point. still nothing

I am getting seriously depressed. I know the baby isn't due until Friday, but I was just hoping she would be a little early. Evan was 2 days early and Gabby was 3 days early so I thought maybe this one would be early too. It's difficult to explain how hard it is at the end to anyone that hasn't been through it. I'm sick of every little sign making me feel like it's time and then nothing happens. I feel so defeated right now. Tomorrow is my birthday and I have a feeling that I am going to be miserable and depressed the whole day.

Well, I am still pregnant so that means Evan gets to keep his birthday to himself. Now I wonder if she will arrive before my birthday on Tuesday.

39 weeks

I had my doctor's appointment today. I've made a little progress. I'm 2 cm and still 50% effaced. The doctor stripped my membranes and I have been cramping ever since. I've had some contractions also, but not consistent enough to start timing yet. Hopefully things will pick up soon.

No baby yet. My 39 week doctor's appointment is tomorrow afternoon. I'm hoping to get some good news about progress, but trying not to get my hopes up too high because I really don't want to cry the whole way home. Hopefully the doctor will at least be able to strip my membranes while I am there. That's what got things going with Gabby at my 39 week appointment.

38 weeks

I had my 38 week appointment this morning. I was really hoping that some progress had been made because we have been doing quite a bit to get things moving, but nothing has changed since last week. I'm still only 1 cm dilated and she didn't tell me how effaced, but last week I was 50%. I didn't even care to ask I was so bummed. I cried all the way home. I know I still have two weeks until my due date, but a little progress would have made my day. Is that too much to ask for?

The rest of the appointment was fine. My GBS came back negative. I haven't gained any weight since last Friday. The baby was good.. heart beat in the 140's. She said she will most likely see me next week for my appointment which I figured after finding out there was no progress.

My mom is a happy camper. She is planning on coming home from Florida on the 23rd and staying for 2 weeks. She wants to be here before I go into labor, if at all possible, so I'm working against my mom and God (because she has been praying a lot that she makes it home in time).

************************

How funny is this? I just went back to October 2006 to see how my 38 week appointment went with Gabby and it sounds pretty darn similar to my appointment today. Check it out:

Jeremy and I went to my 38 week appointment at the OB doctor today. NOTHING is happening. Not a damn thing. He said that she is really low and that once things do start to happen it should go quickly, but that doesn't help me NOW. He said he doesn't see me having this baby anytime in the next week so they'll probably see me at my appointment next Thursday. That didn't make me happy AT ALL. He even suggested that we try "natural induction methods" at home. Not that we haven't done that already!

no such luck

I'm still pregnant. I was kind of excited yesterday because I lost my mucus plug at work and was feeling very crampy all day. I thought for sure something was going to start happening, but no such luck. I feel like I'm going to be pregnant forever.

tonight

An inch of rain is predicted for tonight. I'm hoping for a good barometric pressure drop to go along with the full moon...

... I just hope my water doesn't break while I am at work.

I'm obsessed. Who can blame me with only 18 days until my due date?

nesting

Nesting at 11:30 at night is not a good thing. Everyone in my house is sleeping (my husband is sleeping until midnight because he is going to the Warming Center at our church from 1am to 6:30am) so it makes it kind of difficult to clean when I'm trying to be quiet. I did some laundry and some dishes, but that didn't take the urge away.

the month is here

It's finally February which means I will be having this baby this month! That is, of course, unless she is a little stinker and decides not to arrive on time. If she knows what's good for her she will NOT be late. I'm actually hoping that the full moon on the 9th (which is also a lunar eclipse) will stir things up a bit. Sure it would be 2 weeks before my due date, but pregnancy is technically considered full term at 37 weeks - which I will be in 5 days. Two weeks early is better than two weeks late in my opinion - as long as she is healthy and her lungs are mature, that is.

My 36 week appointment

So I was a little miffed when I got to the doctor's office this morning because I found out they changed the GBS test until next week (because now they want it to be AFTER 36 weeks) and no internal exam so I was like well this is a waste of my time! I drove in heavy snow that was still coming down hard, sliding all over the roads just to pee in a cup, have my belly measured and pay my co-pay.

Well, it turned out to be a more eventful visit than I thought. The doctor measured my belly and said I was measuring small - only 33 weeks instead of 36 weeks - so he told me I needed to get an ultrasound to check the baby's growth. Luckily the ultrasound tech got me in right away so I didn't have to schedule an appointment and go back. She took her time and was very thorough and said the baby is measuring right on track. She weighs 5 pounds 13 ounces and it was confirmed that she is still a girl. The ultrasound tech said my belly is probably measuring smaller because the baby is very low. She is also still head down in the "ready" position so that is great news too.

I set up my weekly appointments that take me up to my due date. The doctor said he will start internal exams next week at my 37 week appointment. Oh, and I have gained 29 pounds total so far. Not bad.

Here is my 36 week belly picture:

And a profile picture of baby Elizabeth from today's ultrasound:

Thirty days

Only thirty days until this baby girl is due. I have my 36 week appointment tomorrow and then an appointment every week until she arrives. I may only have about 3 weeks of work left! I will update after my appointment and post a 36 week belly picture - which I will take with my brand new camera.

34.5 weeks

Here I am at 34.5 weeks pregnant:

I have been feeling lots of pressure lately and have had to go to the bathroom a LOT the past few days. I'm starting to wonder if she is going to make an early appearance. Hopefully not too early - even though I'm sick of being pregnant. I've got my hospital bag partially packed and newborn clothes washed and ready to go... just in case.

Here's what's going on at this point in my pregnancy:

The "average" baby weighs about five pounds or so and is about 19 inches in length. It is during the last few weeks of pregnancy that your baby will put on most of his or her weight. In general, babies gain about one-half pound per week in the last month of pregnancy.

going nuts

I am having a really rough day! I am just tired of being pregnant. I'm so uncomfortable and so unhappy that I still have 6 weeks until my due date! I'm hoping it's just a blah day and that I don't feel like this every day until I go into labor. I won't be able to stand myself if I feel like this the rest of the pregnancy (and neither will my husband).

34 week appointment

I had my 34 week appointment this morning and all is well. I've gained 25 pounds total with 6 weeks to go. That may sound like a lot to some, but I'm happy with it because, for one.. the ideal weight gain is 35 pounds and two.. I gained 55 with my other kids. I guess being glued to the bathroom with my head in the toilet for the first 5 months this time around really paid off. =)

The baby is in the head down position so that is another relief. Mothers-to-be always worry when (and sometimes if) the baby will get in the "ready" position because more than likely if the baby doesn't turn you end up with a c-section. I am praying that after 3 vaginal births I won't have to deal with my worst fear of getting sliced open.

And last, but not least, her heart beat is perfect - in the 150's. I go back in 2 weeks for my next appointment and then every week after that until she is here! As far away as it seems (because I am the pregnant one) it is so close!

the final stretch (is too long)

I had my first sleep issue so far this pregnancy. I went to bed at 1 am and woke up at 4:51 am unable to go back to sleep. I hadn't really had any issues sleeping until now. I woke up after having a bad dream, realized how bad I had to pee and had massive heart burn to the point that I wanted to vomit. I have also been feeling extremely anxious lately. Almost like anxiety attacks. I'm not digging it at all. Sometimes I don't want to leave the house because I'm feeling so much anxiety. I can't wait until this baby gets here so this can all end. I have my 34 week doctor visit today. I'm sure it will be uneventful - weight check, pee in a cup, listen to baby's heart beat, measure my belly and send me on my way. I hope to find out if she's head down now. I think she is.

massage therapy

I just spent the last 20 minutes looking for places that offer prenatal massage. I've found 3 good places in my immediate area that offer them. I've never even considered getting a massage (except from my husband) when pregnant, but someone on my message board that is also due next month said she had one recently. Sounds like a slice of heaven to me. Even if it's only 30 minutes of relief from the aches of pains of being 8 months pregnant... I'm all for it.

will it ever end?

I am so stinking tired of being pregnant. Why does it go so freaking slow near the end? I feel like time has stopped moving and I'm going to be like this forever. People say, "oh.. I can't believe you're due next month! Your pregnancy has just flown by!" Yeah.. maybe for them because they're not the one that's pregnant. I know.. I'm being bitchy and I shouldn't be, but hey.. I'm hormonal, feeling huge and uncomfortable so I am entitled to be a little bitchy from time to time.

58 days and counting

That's right, folks. 58 days until this baby is due. I'd be happy with going a week early - as long as the baby is healthy. I'm already tired of being pregnant. Last night was a rough night. It was the first night I actually had a difficult time sleeping. Every time I rolled over it was extremely uncomfortable and woke me up. At least the discomfort has held off until now. I think it started much earlier when I was pregnant with Gabrielle.

nine weeks

Can you believe I only have 9 weeks left of this pregnancy? In a way it seems like not long at all, but with as tired and uncomfortable as I feel.. it also feels like forever. I hope to God it goes by relatively fast.

31 weeks pregnant:

Your baby is continuing to grow and has grown to over 15 ½inches in length and weighs anywhere from 3 ½ to 4 pounds. Your baby is continuing to develop a layer of fat under her skin. This is in preparation for her arrival into the world and gives the baby more of a newborn appearance. During the next several weeks your baby will really begin to put on the weight. Remember the average size of a newborn is about 7 ½ pounds and 19 to 21 inches long.

days remaining

I have 11 weeks until my due date and approximately 47 times I have to come into work. I only know this (the work days) because a woman on my February Due Date board posted how many days she has left to work and it gave me something to do figuring out my days as well. I am so tired lately and so not in the mood to be at work - EVER.

I'm really looking forward to making Kieflies on Thursday! Not only because I love spending time with the girls in my family, but because I am seriously craving them right now. Good thing we eat some while we are making them =) Get me a big glass a milk... I'm ready!

down to the wire

I had my 28 week appointment and my glucose tolerance test today. Everything is good with the baby. I'm measuring at 28 weeks - right on track - and the baby's heart beat was 140. I will find out tomorrow (hopefully) if I passed the glucose test. The doctor said that a lot more people are failing the 1 hour test because they changed the cut off from 140 down to 130 so I may have to go back in for the 3 hour test. I really hope not. I've never failed one before, but since they are making it more difficult to pass it I guess I will just have to wait and see. I'm no longer doing the every 4 week appointments. We're down to the wire now. I have to go every two weeks - twice in December and twice in January - and then every week until the baby is here. I can't believe how fast this is going! Oh, and my total weight gain is 14 pounds.

third trimester

At the end of this week I will be entering the third trimester of this pregnancy - which means two-thirds of the way through. Woo hoo! Only three months to go! Before we know it, our new little bundle of joy will be here. I have to say.. pregnancy is normally a very long thing, but it's gone by pretty quickly this time. Maybe because I have a two year old at home. Then again, if I remember correctly it's the last three months that go by the slowest so I should probably just keep my mouth shut about it.

pregnancy migraines

I've been in bed the last two days with a horrible headache. I'm feeling a little better this afternoon, but I will tell you.. it's not been fun. I slept half the day today and even though my head feels better I am still feeling very blah and drained. I hate feeling this way.

thirty-seven hours

In thirty-seven hours my husband and I will be at the doctor's office waiting to be called into the ultrasound room to see our baby. I am having a very difficult time thinking about much else. It's going to be a long thirty-seven hours.

In other baby news.. we've got real movement going on. For the past two weeks or so I have been able to feel the baby moving, but only when I'm laying down and really paying attention. The last two days I have been feeling the baby move even when I'm sitting at my desk working. Last night we were watching television and could see my belly moving every time the baby moved. It's been an exciting past couple of days.

11 days to go

I have 11 days before my ultrasound that hopefully will tell us if we are having a boy or a girl. We have been playing a little game on our message board to guess what others might be having based on the way they are "carrying." I've never been good at that so it's interesting to see what others guess. I am bringing the game here so I can get some more opinions. In 11 days I will post what I'm having - as long as the baby cooperates!

Here I am at 18.5 weeks pregnant.

So what do you think... boy or girl?

unsolicited bullshit

I am beginning to hate when people ask me if we've picked out names for this baby. I love the names we have chosen, but I am done sharing them with other people. Why does someone ask and then give a negative response?

A girl at work just asked me about names and when I told her the girls name, she said, "oh, well I hope you have a boy then because I don't like that name at all." I felt like saying, "Well, it's a good thing that I'm not squeezing your child out of my hoo-haw then, isn't it?" That is so fucking rude!

so jealous

I have been on a message board for November 2006 mom's since about April of 2006. We are all very close and some of us have even met. We have been through our pregnancies and the kids growing up and now some of us are pregnant again or have just had another baby. When I was pregnant with my daughter I was due at the beginning of the month. I was so happy because I was in the early group of people that got their 20 week ultrasound done.

This time around I'm due at the very end of the month. Again I have joined a message board (same site) for Feb 09 mom's and already we get along great. I'm totally jealous though because so many of them have had their ultrasounds. Every day there are a handful of girls that post if they are having a boy or girl. I still have 21 days left! It's driving me crazy! Don't get me wrong. I'm very happy for them. I am just extremely anxious for my turn!!

doctor's appointment

I had my 16 week appointment today (at 16.5 weeks). I have only gained 1 pound since my last appointment which means I'm still down 5 pounds from when I started. I'm still throwing up almost every day, but the doctor isn't worried about the baby. He says the baby is getting what it needs and not to worry. I know there are much worse cases than mine. He found the baby's heart beat right away and it was around 145/150 beats per minute. The doctor asked me if I could feel the baby moving yet - which I can't really. I feel a little bubbly now and then, but I still can't tell if it's the baby or gas. He said in the next couple of weeks I should be able to tell. My ultrasound is scheduled for October 10th! I can't wait to find out if we're having a boy or a girl. I'm already counting down the days. Can you believe I'm already nearly half way through this pregnancy?

Here is my baby belly picture for today - 16 weeks and 4 days:

16 weeks

I can’t believe I’m 16 weeks pregnant already! It seems to be flying by. Only 4 more weeks until I can get my ultrasound to find out if it’s a baby boy or baby girl in there. I would post a belly picture, but I don’t really have a belly yet! You would think with this being my 4th child - and my youngest not even 2 years old yet - that I would start showing super early. I guess being 5′10″ makes all the difference. Oh, and the fact that I’m STILL dealing with morning sickness doesn’t help either. I can’t wait to go to my doctor’s appointment on Monday to see where I stand with my weight. My last appointment I was still down six pounds!

I am really going crazy waiting to find out the baby's gender though. The next four weeks can't go by fast enough!

baby picture

I took a picture of my ultrasound picture from a week ago. Wanted to post it here. It's not the greatest picture, but there it is - our baby during the 13th week of pregnancy. Ultrasound pictures can be quite creepy some times, don't you think? Because of the angle, it looks like my poor child has no arms and barely any legs, but I assure you everything is there.

heart beat

We finally found the baby's heart beat with our doppler tonight! Every time I get the doppler out, Jeremy rolls his eyes at me because he thinks it's a waste of time (only because we haven't been able to find it yet) but I found it tonight at 14 weeks 2 days pregnant! It's one of the greatest sounds in the world. We could also hear the baby moving around and kicking. So exciting!

baby news

So, I had my ultrasound this morning before work. I'm 13 weeks pregnant today and the baby is doing wonderful! His/her heart beat was 150 beats per minute which is a good, strong heart beat. The baby was moving all over the place. No peek at gender yet so we'll have to wait another 7 weeks, but I'm just happy that all is well. I wanted to post the ultrasound picture, but I had to come straight to work so I will post it some time over the weekend.

192 days to go

So I decided to put a pregnancy ticker (countdown) on my site. I did it when I was pregnant with Gabby so I'm doing it this time also. I think it's a super cool one - not just a countdown, but it actually shows what the baby should look like as time goes on. It's over on the right side bar. Isn't it neat?
