I really need to improve my blog's ranking. I need to get my Google page rank up another notch or two. I am currently at four out of ten. That's better than some, but I need to get it higher. Now, as far as my Alexa ranking goes, I'm slowly but surely bringing it down. The lower my ranking is the better my site is. I started at over a million and now I'm down to seven hundred thousand and some change. I have no idea how I'm doing it, but whatever I'm doing it's working.
Why do I care about my site's ranking? It's simple: the better my ranking is, the more money I can make advertising. With us getting a house soon we need to make as much money as possible. Does anyone have any tricks on getting my ranking up without spending money to do it? I have submitted my site to a bunch of search engines and other sites that are supposed to help such as Open Project Directory and the likes. So far my Google ranking has not moved. I need all the help I can get. I need more people to link me. Important people. So, if you feel like you're important, or even if you don't, throw a link on your site and help out a fellow blogger pay her mortgage. *grin*

I've been trying to do the same! I've finally gotten my Alexa below 100k but I've been really trying to boost my Google PR. I'm currently a 4 like you but would like to be at least a 5 (would love a 6 haha).
I went about this a number of ways.. I held 2 separate contests and did a few things through a certain "pay you for blogging" company (which you know, since I requested you.. thank you so much by the way..!!). I also wanted to increase my readership, which I hope was successful as well!
Good luck with lowering your ranks! I'm going to do a linky love post for you in the morning! I'll do it from my PR4 and PR5 and maybe that will help! :D
Good luck with this.
Leave comments on tons of blogs, and make sure you fill in the URL field of the comment form; the PageRank algorithm depends on links from genuine sites to your website.
As a wonderful writer once said, "Linking is what separates apes from man."
