Today is Elizabeth's baptism and I got a call from my mom last night saying that my sister and brother-in-law (the God parents) may not be able to make the trip this morning. Apparently my nephew started throwing up last night. Haven't heard anything since so I called my priest this morning to find out what our options are. I had to leave him a message and I am hoping he calls back before 8:00 mass. I have no idea what to do. Can we have someone stand in for them? Do we have to reschedule? Rescheduling would not make me happy because for one, and most importantly.. I hated waiting this long to have her baptized in the first place, but had to schedule according to when everyone could make it. And two.. my parents already ordered food and the cake for the party after. Of course, I hope that my nephew is OK, but this just sucks. I have been up ever since Elizabeth woke to eat at 5am. She went back to sleep at 6am, but I haven't been able to stop worrying.

Sounds like you are in the same boat i am with the exception that Elizabeth's Godfather wants to participate! Finley is being baptized this afternoon and my brother-in-law decided to have freak out on us and now we don't know if he's going to show up to be Finley's Godfather. The priest says someone can stand in for him, but do I really want him being her Godfather if he's not sure he wants to do it...
