discipline

This whole Weight Watchers thing takes quite a bit of discipline - especially when sitting at home on my day off. But I'm still doing good. Here's what I've had so far today:

Breakfast

2 cups of coffee with creamer = 4 points (2 points each creamer portion, the coffee is 0)
1 banana = 2 points

Lunch

Egg salad on 1 piece of bread = 6 points
glass of water = 0 points

So, I have 12 points left for the day.

My husband had a banana for breakfast (2 pts) with a cup of tea (0 pts) and egg salad on 1 piece of bread (6 pts) and he gets a couple more points per day then I do so he still has 18 points left.

Our plan for dinner is a hamburger (no bun) with ketchup, mustard and onion (5 points) with either stuffing (1/2 cup = 4 points) or mashed potatoes (1/2 cup = 2 points) and peas (1 cup = 2 points) and either water (0 pts) or diet Coke (0 pts). Yes, I'm going to have to force myself to start drinking diet pop (something I swore I would never do) because it has no point value where 12 ounces of regular pop is 3 points.

Fun stuff this Weight Watchers is. It's good though. We're totally aware of what we're putting in our mouths now. We already check the list every time we think about food.

We have a grocery list going for our next shopping trip based on the points list. Here's what's on it so far...

Avacados
Asparagus
Broccoli
Carrots
Cucumbers
Tomatoes
Pears
Blueberries
Cottage Cheese (light)
Mayo (light)
Tuna fish in water
Reduced calorie bread (2 pieces = 1 point where as white bread is 2 points for only 1 slice)
Cream of wheat
Shredded wheat

Fruits and vegetables are great, of course. Not many points. In fact, a lot of vegetables are 0 points. So if we're hungry between meals we can chomp on some baby carrots and it won't hurt our diet a bit. Good stuff.

I'll be tracking most of our progress at Two With A View.

imho (and it's quite humble) I think if you just discipline yourself and write down what you eat, it will help. I don't think you really need the point system honestly. If you write down everything you eat and drink you'll realize just how much you're taking in and how much you need to not take in.

Weight watchers is good because they make you do that by assigning points to a meal. All you really need to do is know what you eat, and how much. That's all the discipline you need imho.
