Jeremy and I had our meeting with Father Joe yesterday evening. We were so nervous going in there. We had no idea what to expect. Was he going to roll his eyes and think we were the biggest pair of sinners he'd come across? or that he wasted his time helping me along my journey? Nothing of the sort happened.
We explained to him that our original plan was to get married next spring, but that I got pregnant a little ahead of schedule and we want to get married before the baby gets here in November. He said not to worry at all. He'll waive the six month "rule" for us and as soon as my annulment paperwork is approved (a second time) by the tribunal in Grand Rapids, we can begin planning. He said that this may not be the order of the Catholic church, but apparently it is God's order because we have been blessed with this child. He also said that he assumed we would get married sooner or later because we have been going to church together for so long and he sees how much we love each other. I told him how nervous I was about our meeting and he said, "Don't sweat the small stuff." It was the most wonderful experience.
So... Jeremy and I are getting married in the Catholic church!! We are thinking about having an early September wedding. Once we get the annulment decree from Grand Rapids we will go to the church, fill out paperwork and set the date. We are so excited!!
